Acupuncture with manual therapy is the treatment of choice for musculoskeletal conditions. Exercises that strengthen and increase flexibility may be recommended during a session.
When you work with Chia Chia, you’re getting more than an acupuncturist. You’re getting a health care provider with multiple skills under her belt. The term “acupuncturist” doesn’t begin to describe all she can offer you.
The reason Chia Chia has consistent success in treating chronic pain is her addition of other natural methods to promote healing. Bodywork during the same session makes acupuncture more effective. Nutritional and herbal therapy continues the benefits of acupuncture while decreasing the frequency of office visits. Herbs and supplements also produce faster results. Exercise suggestions empower you to do self-care and build a sense of independence.
Chia Chia invests in the patient-practioner relationship. You will have a better outcome when you feel your provider sees you as a person, not a condition. This means that over time Chia Chia will know you and be an active participant in your healing.
In her own words, here’s how Chia Chia describes her process.
“In my practice I address autonomic nervous system imbalance. Folks are often stuck in fight, flight or freeze mode in daily living. They cannot self-regulate and return to rest, digest, and restore. I use acupuncture and body work to support your body’s return to balance.”
Acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment for many conditions.
Many people question how one type of medicine can be effective in treating conditions that seem so different from another. Conditions such as low back pain, hypothyroidism, Bell’s palsy, Type 2 diabetes, infertility…the list goes on. The reason is this–acupuncture can help balance the body’s energy.
Acupuncture has a written history of over 3000 years. It continues to be a primary source of medicine in many countries.
Acupuncture is based on the fundamental principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Today’s practitioners are skilled in human anatomy, the chemistry of Chinese medicinals, and the body’s response to stress. They are well trained, have attended an accredited college of Oriental Medicine, and pass the required exams prior to receiving their license.
A visit to Traditions Acupuncture includes an acupuncture treatment unless you specify otherwise. We will decide what other treatment modalities are necessary at the same visit.
Acupuncture is a pain-free, drug-free treatment option for many health conditions.
Patients report feeling a pinch, a bug bite, or no sensation at all upon needle insertion. Sterile, disposable needles are always used at Traditions Acupuncture. The needles are made of stainless steel and are solid (filiform), not hollow.
We stock 7 gauges of needles. This ensures the greatest amount of comfort for you without compromising the quality of care.
People describe acupuncture as calming.
People have described treatment with acupuncture as:
- relaxing
- energizing
- grounding
Some people fall asleep during treatment. People report increased mental clarity after acupuncture. Your experience may vary. Eating prior to your office visit is recommended. This will prevent being light headed during/after treatment.
In conjunction with acupuncture we may use a far infrared lamp. The far infrared lamp provides penetrating heat to soften connective tissue and deeper muscles. It is useful for digestive disorders and musculoskeletal conditions.
A treatment with acupuncture lasts approximately 30-45 minutes. Some conditions require only single-sided treatment. Others require acupuncture on front and back sides. We will determine whether you need a single or dual-sided acupuncture treatment based on your health concerns and personal goals.
